The Original...

We got them yesterday, fresh for 2010, The McTavish Original. This model was the first model to really bring modern Longboarding into the 21st Century! The board has a radical. 3-stage rocker, with a flat center section for fast paddling, and a flipped nose and tail for fast, loose, down-the-line surfing. The trim channels (which are hard to see in the photo but really cool in person) in the nose add lift, and also give great control while noseriding. The template has a wide, stable nose, and a big hip in the tail, which makes rail to rail transition smooth and controlled. The Original is an ideal addition to any Shortboarders quiver, or a high-performance option for the Fish/Longboard crew.
This board works best with a bit of weight stripped out, and the SLX epoxy construcion delivers this perfectly. I have an SLX in my quiver and I love it. SLX sets the performance standard in Epoxy Boards. Boards with the SLX logo are layed up by hand in the traditional wet lay up method using epoxy. An SLX gives you a lightweight board with better deck crushing resistance as well as quick acceleration and a very responsive feel. These boards feel new for months and will bring a fresh vision to your surfing. Surfers worldwide are adding epoxy boards to their quivers because they are light weight, last longer and still have that custom board flex and feel.
We currently have a 9'1, a 9'3, and a 9'6 in stock for your view viewing pleasure so come check them out.

Surf on the way! Waves building tomorrow, getting organized on Thursday, and nice and clean but dropping Friday. Should be some fun stuff happening out there so stay on it and we'll see you in the water.

It's flat and probably gonna be that way till the end of the week. Not epic conditions yesterday but I got a really fun session in with JJ just south of the all mighty wall... Knee to thigh is where it's at after not surfing for almost a week and a half. I hope this little nor' easter they're predicting materializes for the end of the week. Stay tuned and I will keep you posted.

So yesterday was the Legendary Banked Slalom at Mt. Baker in the grand state of Washington. Baker is epic! It really is the raddest mountain in N. America and going there to shred may be the closest thing I have ever had to a religious experience. Temple Cummings pretty much rules Baker and no big surprise that he ruled the event yet again and walked away with ultimate bragging right. Temple ran the course in a minute and forty three seconds and did it all on his trusty GNU Billy Goat with C2 Banana Technology. I have this exact board in a 162cm with epic sea creature graphic in the shop now and it could be yours. I have posted a few pics and I will put some video up as soon as everyone stirs from their hangovers and gets interwierd on the web. Look out!

Seven of surfing's leading young faces continue a legacy. Seven days in the depths of the jungle... SEarching. Ripcurl now gives you a unique look at seven different ways to LIVE THE SEARCH, straight from the mouth of tomorrow's generation. Check it out HERE. It's like getting a free surf video. Oh and thier wetsuits are pretty kick ass too! Insulators in any day now...

Dead of winter demo with the 1031 crew tonight at RYE from 6-9. 5 bucks to skate and hang with the crew. See you there!!!

Waves Tomorrow???

The wind is blowin' and the surf is risin'. Should be some knee to waist high peaks at the wall tomorrow morning, and bigger waves at north facing beaches. The morning wind forecast is calling for a steady NW wind at somewhere around 15+ mph. Might have to look around to find the right spot, but after a week and a half with no surf anything will be fun. Wear your thick rubber because it is going to be cold tomorrow...

Our buddy Mike was in this morning getting a new hoodie. He has been on the injured list for a while now but his surf stoke is still as strong as ever. He recently ordered a new board and should be back in the line up in a few months. He pulled up a classic little video from the original lost movie, 5'5 x 19 1/4, and we all watched and laughed at the ugly looking board Curren shaped. He then proceeded to shred and get shacked off his mug. Here's to you Mike, hope to see you in the water soon!

There was a great turn out at the Surfrider beach clean up this morning. Big shout out to all the folks that braved the cold and made our our beach and community a little bit cleaner. I hope to see a little bit more of a Pioneers presence at the next event so mark your calendar for March 7th and we'll see you in Seabrook Boi!

Our good friends Chance and Richie have spent some time chasing fresh pow this winter. Chance's mom Michelle sent me a few of their home picture/video edits with permission to share with everyone. Chance and I skate and surf together all year long and it's no surprise that the boy can shred on one plank or two. Check out the X-Games edit HERE and the Mammoth edit HERE! Thanks for sharing guys! We'll be expecting another one from your trip to the Olympics.

Enjoy the day and we'll see you in the water tomorrow!

Las Olas and New Gear!!!

Good morning and greetings! Welcome to an absolutely gorgeous Friday. I went for a nice cruise down by the beach this morning with the pup, watched a great sunrise and some perfect shin high sets peel in. It has been flat for a week now and it looks like we may get a little swell action for Sunday but it's pretty hit or miss at this point. I know about 5 people (sacrifices) who are out of town this week traveling for business or pleasure, you think that we would have waves for sure, right? No chance maybe sometime next week. Well at least we have some memories and some images from last week's swell.

Just incase you forgot here is a little video from our buddy Michael Sanders of Steve O and others getting a few good ones at the rocks. The waves two weeks ago were real good... remember???

In other news, we have a new restaurant in town. Las Olas Taqueria opened its doors this past Wednesday at 356 Lafayette Rd in Hampton, NH. They also have another location in Exeter, that I have been frequenting for the past two years and loving. I am so stoked for a really good mexican spot at the end of my street, after surf burritos are really as good as it gets. Check the Las Olas website HERE and make sure you swing by and check out the food. They use healthy ingredients like locally raised pork and rice and beans made with no lard or MSG. Healthy food fast, get some!

Boxes just showed up! New gear and shoes from DVS, Lakai, and DC. The new Surfer's Journal is in as is the newest issue of Surfing Magazine. Lots of shoe sizes in stock and more on the way spring is right around the corner and our selection of stuff you'll be needing gets better everyday.

I spent yesterday at Mount Sunapee with my family shredding it up. I just wanted to let everyone know what a nice mountain Sunapee is. I hadn't been there for 5 or 6 years and I was blown away by how nice it was. Tons of trails, great snow, fast lifts, and a fun park. It's about an hour and 20 minutes from the shop and is worth the drive. Wednesday is 2 for 1 and is the deal day! I will be heading back up a few times because it was that good! Check it out if you need a fun day trip on a budget!

Giving it up for Reda...

The Berrics, you have heard me talk about it before. Buttery Ass Mondays, First Try Fridays, Battle at the Berrics, DC United, 1% for Nick Mullens. This should all be ringing a bell some where in your head. Well topic of the day is Wenesdays with Reda. Giovanni Reda works for the Berrics, he does a weekly show where he basically sticks a camera in some ones face and makes their life miserable. His favorite people to pick on are Eric Koston and anyone from England. Some times he shouts out to former pros, or people outside of the skate industry. This week Reda is kicking it with Peter Bici, who is an OG NYC skater and spent a lot of his career with Zoo York. Bici is now on the NYC fire department and that is where Reda is spending this Wednesday.

I have nothing but respect for Fire Fighters, my father is a fire fighter as is my uncle, grandfather, my cousin, and some close friends. One of my good buddies, Jon Comeau is on the job with my dad. When I first started skating and snowboarding Jon was the guy I looked up too. He sold me my first snowboard, he used to take me on skate and snowboard missions. Like all firefighters Jon rules and is still one of my favorite people to go skate or shred with, even though it's been a while. I was amped when I saw this weeks Wednesdays with Reda cause it reminded me how many firefighters I know and a few that can still rip when given the chance.

Wednesdays with Reda
Check the Berrics for more episodes as the day goes...

NH Surfrider sponsered Beach Clean Up at the Wall this Saturday the sixth of February. If you want to pitch in a helping hand meet at the bath house at the north end of the wall at 10am sharp. I also have posted the full 2010 beach clean up schedule below, mark your calendar. So this Saturday come pick up some trash, spread some stoke, and do the right thing. Be there!

In surf news Ripcurl announced that their Somewhere Event on the ASP tour will be held somewhere in the Caribbean. More info and a specific location to come in April. The Todos Santos Big Wave Invitational official wait period kicked off on Monday. The first week looks small but there are some chances developing for mid Feb. Like the Eddie, this is a one day contest with some of the best big wave surfers in the world. As soon as it gets 30 foot + it will run and I will do my best to stay on it and let you know when it's a go!

Lost...

If you read the blog on a semi regular basis then the title of today's blog probably reminds you of Lost surfboards. While Lost surfboards are the absolute best surfboards money can buy I have deceived you with today's title. What I am really talking about today it the greatest piece of entertainment that has ever graced our television screens, I am talking about the greatest action, adventure, sci-fi, drama ever, I am talking about the TV show Lost. The final season begins tonight and while I am beyond excited to finally get some answers, I am even more bummed that once this season is over, the show itself is really over.

I am not going to try and explain why this show is so amazing, but if you have been watching it like I have, than you know what I am talking about. It seems that most people hear about how epic this show is and tune in for an episode or two but have no idea what is going on and leave the experience less than excited, more than often their experience is confusing and annoying. What is amazing is that you can go to ABC.com and watch every episode ever produced in streaming HD for FREE. If you make the decision to start from episode one and work your way through the seasons you will become obsessed and you will get nothing done, you might even skip more than a few surf sessions for Lost. Take that into consideration before making the commitment to Lost. If you really embrace Lost, just know it will take a while but in the end it will all be worth it, I promise.

Now that I have that out of my system I can talk about shop related news. There has been alot going on here lately. Lots of local reps cruising by and showing us some of the great stuff they are working on for next year both in the surf and snowboard world. The head designers and managers of Ripcurl were in last week discussing some of the new designs and technology that have they have coming. Cool cool stuff coming. Speaking of Ripcurl we are expecting a fresh batch of Ripcurl Insulators in 4/3 and 3/2 pretty soon. Stevie and I both love love love our Ripcurl insulators and will tell you all about them when they get here. We also got a ton of new skate and surf videos in today along with some new FCS surf fins. Modern Collective ( the craziest most progressive surf video ever) is back in stock and needs to be in your dvd player ASAP along with Hesh Law. New shoes and gear on the way along with tons of skate and surf stuff. Our spring gear will be rolling in heavy pretty soon so get stoked and come check it out. It's twenty ten baby, let's Celebrate!!!

Two for Tuesdays at Gunstock tonight and if that don't float your boat there should be a fun session going down at Rye. Come and get some, we'll see you somewhere... Plan on waves for your guess is as good as mine.

Enjoy that day boys and girls!

VOLCOM PIPELINE PRO FINALS TODAY!!!!

It's flat, windy too, I thought there were going to be little longboard waves this morning and I was wrong. But who cares the the Volcom Pipeline Pro semis kick off at 1:00 pm. Yesterdays competition was INSANE!!! I was in Boston for school this weekend but during every break I was glued to my computer watching the webcast. Today we have two semi heats and then right into the final. If you haven't been paying attention it is time to start! Brett Barley, a young buck at 20 years old from the outer banks of North Carolina, has become the biggest giant killer of the contest. He is the only US mainlander still in the contest. He is definitely the underdog and I am pulling for him. You should too because he is East Coast just like you and I. Tons of action to come today but before tuning in to today's happenings check out yesterday's highlight HERE and then watch the live feed HERE. I think said Steve was calling for Brett and Jamie O in the finals, and I am gonna agree that would be a pretty safe bet!
